Wanderbuk ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website wanderbuk.com and its related services (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account information — your name and email address when you register.
- Authentication via Google — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google profile photo from Google. We do not receive or store your Google password. We do not access any other Google account data (Drive, Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, etc.).
- Photos and content — images you upload and scrapbook content (captions, layouts) you create inside the Service.
- Payment information — if you upgrade to Premium or order a printed book, payment is processed by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your card number or full payment details.
- Communications — messages you send us via email.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, and actions taken (e.g., scrapbooks created, PDFs downloaded), along with your IP address and approximate country.
- Device and browser data — browser type, operating system, referring URL, and session identifiers stored in a server-side session cookie.
- Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect data per Google's own privacy policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service.
- To store and display the photos and scrapbook content you create.
- To process print orders and payments.
- To send transactional emails (password reset, order confirmation). We do not send marketing email without your explicit consent.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations.
- To analyse aggregate usage trends and improve product features.
We use information received from Google Sign-In solely to authenticate you and populate your account name and email. We do not share this information with third parties beyond what is described in Section 3, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — third parties that help us operate the Service, including cloud hosting (Heroku), object storage for photos (Cloudflare R2), payment processing, and transactional email delivery. These providers may only process your data on our behalf and according to our instructions.
- Print fulfilment partners — if you place a print order, we share the necessary details (your scrapbook files and shipping address) with our print partner to fulfil the order.
- Analytics — anonymised or aggregated usage data is processed by Google Analytics.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Wanderbuk or others.
- Business transfers — in the event of a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We also use Google Analytics cookies to understand aggregate site usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; however, disabling the session cookie will prevent you from logging in.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information and uploaded photos within 30 days, unless retention is required by law. Aggregate, anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your account and data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability — export the scrapbook content you have created.

You may also delete your account at any time from within your dashboard settings.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and access controls. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. International Transfers
Wanderbuk is operated from India. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to servers located in the United States and other countries where our infrastructure providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your country of residence.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where required by law, notify you by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
